💚 Forever Mom’s Favorite Child 🐦👑

One year ago today, my little Rockstar flew away. 🌈

I still miss your little songs, my sweet Kiwi, and how you loved listening to me sing. You never talked back, never gave me attitude, and were wonderfully low-maintenance. 😂❤️

Two weeks ago, your big feathers unexpectedly found their way back to me, tucked inside a jewellery box I had almost forgotten about. I had carefully kept them when I said goodbye to you. Finding them again brought back so much love and a little sadness too.

I felt happy and sad all at once. Happy to have found something so precious, and sad that you are no longer here.

Life has been busy, and I haven’t painted you yet. But you have never been forgotten.

Fly free, my sweet songbird. Until we meet again. 💚🎶

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever Mom’s Favourite Child. 🐦👑❤️

15 October 2024. Just another ordinary night with little
Rockstar – “Goodnight, Kiwi. I love you.” If only I knew
how precious these ordinary moments would become.

Brushstroke of memory

This painting feels like a little echo of the garden my aunt loved so dearly. [www.newbloggycat.com]

It’s been nine years, and still, on these quiet days close to the end of the year, I find myself reaching for ways to remember my beloved aunt.

This time, it wasn’t just words. Near midnight a few days ago, I took up the brush – and this painting came to life: long graceful leaves, two standing tall, others softly surrounding, and one small twig touched with dark pink petals. At the base, a gentle wash of lighter shade, like the earth that holds all growth.

To my dear cousins, MS and MY and to her treasured grandsons, J and H who brought such joy to her heart and stories to her days. And to her son-in-law, KS, whose quiet presence she admired and appreciated.

This year’s tribute is especially for you. In these leaves, I see her strength and elegance; in this fragile bloom, her lasting beauty. And in the quiet of the painting hour, I felt close to her, and to all of you who carry her light.

Every year I write, but this year, I painted. Maybe because some memories grow deeper, gentler — more like ink than words.

Today, I hope she sees these leaves and smiles.

Still here. Still growing. Still loved.

Always remembering,

Pat ❤️

Love leaves traces 💕

It has been days since our beloved budgie, Kiwi, left us on 15 October—but somehow, traces of him still linger in the most unexpected places.

And today, while sweeping the floor, I found another tiny feather… and then a bigger one.

Some might say it’s just coincidence. But to us, these feathers feel like love notes. Quiet reminders from a little soul who brought so much joy into our home. Maybe Kiwi is reminding us that he’s okay. Or maybe he just wants to say, “I’m still here. Just in a different way.”

Whatever it is, Kiwi was so loved. And love always leaves traces 💕
