This post is dedicated to my longtime friend Isabelle, whose beloved grandmother had passed away at a respectable age of 105.
Grandchild, please donβt mourn me Iβm still here,
though you donβt see.
Iβm right by your side each night and day
And within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but Iβm always near,
Iβm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but Iβll never depart.
As long as you keep me alive in your heart.
Iβll never wander out of your sight,
Iβm the brightest star on a summer night.
Iβll never be beyond your reach,
Iβm the warm moist sand when youβre at the beach.
Iβm the colorful leaves when Autumnβs around,
And the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
Iβm the beautiful flowers of which youβre so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
Iβm the first bright blossom youβll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
Iβm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
And youβll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking thereβs no one to love you,
You can talk to Grandma through the Lord above you.
Iβll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
And youβll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
Iβm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep,
And the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
Iβm the smile you see on a babyβs face.
Just look for me, Grandchild, Iβm every place!
