Household chores

“It’s all in the attitude – housework is exercise. Slim your way to a clean home!” – Linda Solegato
When it comes to household chores, whatever I find most difficult to do, I’ll take it on first. I find it best to tackle tougher chores early in the day when my energy and motivation are both at peak levels. By getting the tough task out of the way, it gives me the satisfaction and momentum to the rest of my day.
You may think you would be happiest with no chores at all. Perhaps you’re right, but that would not be the case for most people. Work and the satisfaction it brings seem to be a key ingredient in human happiness quotient.

Cleaning tips and tricks
Attack stains with these secret weapons:
Lemon juice removes garlic or onion odors from a chopping board.
Use banana skin to polish plant leaves. It’ll pick up dust and provide a shiny film on leaves.
White vinegar gives sparkle to mirrors, glassware and windows, and makes lime scale disappear.
Remove crayon marks off walls by scrubbing with toothpaste. While white bread can dab away finger marks on walls.
WD-40 removes the stickers you once put on your bedroom door and keeps them shiny. The oily film makes subsequent cleaning easier.
Happiness Poem
~ Help Yourself To Happiness ~
Helen Steiner Rice
Everybody, everywhere
seeks happiness, it’s true,
But finding it and keeping it
seem difficult to do.
Difficult because we think
that happiness is found
only in the places where
wealth and fame abound.
And so we go on searching
in palaces of pleasure
Seeking recognition
and monetary treasure,
Unaware that happiness
is just a state of mind
Within the reach of everyone
who takes time to be kind.
For in making others happy
we will be happy, too.
For the happiness you give away
returns to shine on you.
Don’t be a litterbug
Litter itself is enough to raise the ire of those who respect the environment, but the message behind littering is even more disturbing. It says “I don’t care about this place or anyone who lives here.”
If you’re in the habit of tossing your trash out the window or dumping your junk at the end of a rural road, you have been living by the saying, “Out of sight, out of mind”. Your actions may be saying things your mind never intended. Mend your ways. Failing to respect the environment and disrespecting the well-being of others will ultimately cause you to lose respect for yourself. It’s never too late to turn over a new leaf if you really want to make a difference.
“Litter, and it will hurt. It hurts the community, and the fines will hurt when you get caught. Half of the litter is accidental, from things blown off trucks and such, but the other half doesn’t reflect positively on the community.” Walt Thompson
Great ways to save money
With the rising cost of living, meeting the needs of a growing family is an expensive affair. You will be surprised at how much you can save with just a few adjustments to your lifestyle.
1. Cooking more meals at home – if you are really short of time during the week plan easy-to-freeze meals that you can pop into microwave during the week. Make it a family project and get everyone to help. You will save money and spend more family time together!
2. Make a list – Always make a list and stick to it when you go grocery shopping. This way, you will avoid buying things on impulse. You should also attempt to schedule your shopping trips when you a bit of a hurry so you will only have time to buy the items listed.
3. Buy in bulk – Whenever possible, buy in bulk. toothpaste, canned goods, body wash, cereal and toilet paper have a long shelf life and cost a lot less when purchase them in large quantities.
4. Pay bills on time – To avoid ‘late payment’ charges. This is especially true when it comes to credit card bills. The late charges may seem small but add up over time.
5. Plan vacations in advance – So you won’t get caught paying extra during ‘peak season’. Early planning also allows you time to research and be eligible for early bird discounts.
