13 Years: NBC is still purring /ᐠ – ˕ -マ Ⳋ

http://www.newbloggycat.com

Well, here we are. Thirteen years.

NBC is still my sanctuary. It’s still the place where I can be independent and quiet.  It’s still the purrfect platform for my art, my sometimes-wicked humor, and the memories of those I love.

To mark the occasion, I thought I’d share 13 simple joys that makes my heart purr:-

1. Sipping my morning coffee – Aka cat-puccino.

2. Sunbathing on that warm square of sunlight on the floor just for me.

3. Knocking things off the table and watching my human pick them up.

4. Enjoying the lup dup lup dup of a human heartbeat when they hug me.

5. My daily stretching at my 82cm tall scratch pole.

6. Curling up in warm laundry – freshly dried and perfectly folded

7. Taking over the comfiest cushion

8. Books – not reading them, just sitting on them like the intellectual cat I am.

9. A good laugh watching humans trip over me – I was clearly sleeping there. Not my fault.

10. Birds chirping outside the window – music to my ears… while I’m sleeping,

11. Bird TV through the window. (Live series)

12. Sudden bursts of inspiration – aka 2 a.m. zoomies.

13. Knowing, without a doubt that this whole household runs on my schedule.

🎤/ᐠ ˵> ⩊ <˵マAnd a cat has other talents besides napping…
I’m stepping out from behind the keyboard for a moment and sharing a little piece of my heart — through song.
If you’ve ever wondered what NBC sounds like when she’s not typing… here’s a small glimpse. 🎶

I’ll be posting Bridge Over Troubled Water later today.

Thank you for listening, and as always, thanks for being here.
Love, light, and meows. ❤️🐾

🐱NBC is 11 today!🎂💫

11 years ago today, NBC published the first blog post. According to the stats – 3644 posts, 96.4K visitors and 152.7k views. And I can’t help but think for a simple blog, NBC is doing pretty feline eh 🐈
I never thought this blog would last that long. But it’s a hobby that keeps me going. WordPress is the purrfect platform to archive all the stuff that I love, a place where I can share my good and sometimes wicked sense of humor, a place to show off my daughters’ art and drawings.
It’s also a sanctuary to grieve and pay tribute to loved ones who had departed, to say the things that were left unsaid. With this blog, it helps calm my frazzled mind, pacify my anxious heart and heal the broken parts of my soul.
When I started this blog, my friend asked why I named it New Bloggy Cat (NBC) knowing that I’m a dog lover. I said it’s because my personality is more like a cat. I’m independent, I like my quiet space, I enjoy my naps and I’m a non-conformist.
So, on this special day, here’s 11 important life lessons from NBC. And instead of posting pictures, I’ll share my doodle art instead…
Lesson #1 – Have a mind of your own. Live life on your own terms and don’t let anyone tell you what you should and should not do.
Lesson #2 – Take good care of yourself. Good pawsonal hygiene is important to keep the dogtor away. So, paws and clean yourself after every meal.
Lesson #3 – Be independent. If you fall, get up and keep moving forward.
Lesson #4 – Sleep is precious. Please stop overthinking at night. You need sleep 💤
Lesson #5 – Stretch after sleeping. A good stretch helps improves flexibility and get rid of any aches in the muscles.
Lesson #6 – Insist on the best. Know your self worth and do not settle for anything less than you deserve.
Lesson #7 – Quiet your mind. Take time to meditate and do not stress or worry about something. Remember, busyness is the drug we were never warned about.
Lesson #8 – The sun revitalizes. The sun is the most important thing in everybody’s life and we often take it for granted.
Lesson #9 – Think outside the box but…if the box fits, just sit and stop thinking.
Lesson #10 – Read more. Books are important for your mind, heart and soul. Something magical can happen when you read a good book.
Lesson #11 – Toilet paper is the number one enemy. Text me if you need help to destroy the toilet paper.
To all of you who read my blog, thank you from the bottom of my heart ♥️

🌻🌈NBC is 10 today!🌈🌻

I can’t believe NBC is 10 years old already. Oh gosh! Where have all the years gone? Time flies when you’re busy doing everything and nothing.
So, what has the past decade taught this cat? Well…
1. Love cannot exist if there is selfishness.
2. Show kindness but don’t get yourself drowned.
3. It’s good to enhance your persuasion skills.
4. Be strong and stand tall.
5. Curiosity didn’t kill the cat. Complacency did.
6. Accept your human for who they are even if their feet stinks.
7. Be well groomed.
8. Get mad, then get over it.
9. Be self-contained.

10. Life is so much easier with a sense of humor.

Happy 8th Blog Anniversary!

NBC is 8 today!
So, here I present to you, 8 practical life lessons from NBC.
May we live an ameowzing, happy and furfilling life.
Lesson # 1 : Be confident! Don’t be afraid to ask for food when you’re hungry.
Lesson # 2: Don’t be a people-pleaser. Let your human please you instead.
Lesson # 3: You don’t need expensive toys. The toilet roll is the purrfect toy. It’s cheap and easy to replace.
Lesson # 4: Be well groomed. Looks do matter. It’s not entirely true that beauty is on the inside unless you are a caterpillar. No one wants to look like this in the morning.
Lesson # 5: Learn to slow down. Relax and enjoy yourself a little more.
Lesson # 6: De-tox your mind before you go to sleep. Get rid of all negative thoughts, the odds and ends you pick-up during the day.
Lesson # 7: Embrace peacefulness. Reflect on your most peaceful experiences in life. And drift away into a sound, undisturbed nap.
Lesson # 8: Stretching is good for you. It increases your flexibility, improves your posture and reduce stress and body aches.
Stay safe & happy, people!

NBC is 7 today!

Wow, seven years already?  Time sure flies when I’m busy napping and eating all day.
So, what’s so special about the 7th year?  Wait! Let me put on my thinking cat.  As you know, number 7 is a special and significant number. There are 7 days in a week, 7 colors in the rainbow,7 layers of skin, 7 basic musical notes, 7 continents in the world and 7 wonders of the ancient world.
But, I’m rather intrigued about the 7 dwarfs in the fairy tale, Snow White,a lady bug commonly has 7 spots, the code for James Bond is 007, 7 Harry Potter novels, most of the mammals’ necks have seven bones, the neutral pH value is 7 and 7 beautiful letters makes us FRIENDS.
As always, my sincere thanks to all for being a part of this pawsitive journey.

It’s been a wonderful 6-year journey of sheer joy.
An enriching  and uplifting experience
of sharing and connecting with
other fellow bloggers and readers
from around the globe.
To me, blogging is an instant getaway
from the humdrum of everyday life,
a safe haven in times of chaos.
And a place I fondly call
“My safe, happy space”
Many thanks for sharing this joy with me!

Keep Looking Up – NBC

NBC is 5 today!

animated-birthday-cake

I can’t believe how quickly time has passed.  Today is exactly 5 years since I started blogging.  I was looking for a new hobby and thought it would be awesome to have an online journal.  A place where I can share my a little about my life, random stuff, quotes or humor with the world.
Blogging has also been a wonderful platform for me to express myself and share my deepest thoughts and wishes which are buried deep within. You know, some things in life are so mind-boggling.
Sydelle who was then only 6-year old suggested the name ‘New Bloggy Cat’ for my blog.  She adores cats and she even drew me this picture for my profile.

Two years later when she was 8, she drew another picture for me which still remained as my profile picture.

My two daughters have been and still are my biggest inspiration when it comes to blogging.  And Shaye, my 6-year old use to say ‘Blob’ instead of ‘Blog’ when she was younger. I loved the way she asked me, “Mom, are you going to post something on your blob? “

What I’ve learned these past 5 years is that…
…there are so many wonderful bloggers out there who are unbelievably talented when it comes to sharing their passion.
…it is okay to make grammar mistakes because it’s all part of the learning process.
…it does not matter how many people clicked the ‘like’ button on my post or how many are following my blog. It is not about the numbers but the passion for blogging.
…blogging does not have to be for monetary gain.  I once  suggested to a friend to start a blog and she said to me, “I will not do anything for free.”    But I believe she’s missing out on the priceless gift and joy of just blogging for fun.
…blogging is therapeutic and it makes me happy.  It keeps me going and growing.
Thank you all for being part of my wonderful blogging experience!
~Keep looking up, my friends!~

Happy 2nd Birthday, NBC!

Welcome to New Bloggy Cat's Birthday Party!

Welcome to New Bloggy Cat’s Birthday Party!

Japanese Happy Cat

My recent interview with Mewsic Radio Station:

Q: What is a blog and why do you blog, New Bloggy Cat?
A: A blog is a Big Lesson On Giving. Having a blog is a fun way to spread some love and laughter. Besides, it a great way to exercise my brain cells and helps keep my brain young.

Q: What makes you different from other cats?
A: Well, I enjoy blogging and I love dogs. Yes, all dogs from Great Danes to Chihuahuas. Even the ones that slobber.
Love You Puppy

Q: What do you blog about?
A: I blog about things that matter like love, laughter, happiness and peace.

Q: What do you like most about blogging?
A: The best part is meeting other furry friends from around the world. I enjoy reading about their fun-adventures and their eccentric humans. Just to name a few of my furry friends here:
Roxy & Tigerlino
Butterfly & Cricket
Millie & Pearl
Vivian & Maisie
Meisie & Liefie (who live with a human working in Dubai called Ger – short for Tigger).

I have also met a camel from Turkey. Uncle Spike is his name and blogging is his game He wrote a guest post for me last month on ‘What makes a camel happy?’. I bet you’ll never look at a camel the same way again after reading it.

Q: Do you read any human blogs?
A: Of course, there are so many awesome blogs to choose from. But it’s tough trying to keep up with the reading. You see, I need my daily naps and that leave me with very little time to read. Some of the blogs I’ve been following are:
Kintal
Belsbror
The Good, Bad and Ludicrous
Cindy Knoke
Jennifer’s Journal
Living, Learning & Letting go
Teacher as Transformer
Love, Happiness & Peace
Pictures on the web
Penguin Ponderings
K’Clips

Q: Do you think humans are complicated?
A: Yes, humans are the most complicated species on earth. They tend to put their values in the wrong things. I can’t understand why they work such long hours and buy stuff they don’t need. I believe the biggest confusion humans have is what they want versus what they need.

Q: What is your advice to humans?
A: Eat more fish, take more naps, think happy and laugh heartily!

Cheerful Cat Face
Thanks everyone for coming to my party! Be safe and keep smiling!
